2008 PMA show ... economic stimulus package rebate...

This February, the Photo Marketing Asssociation will have their convention in Las Vegas. I've pretty much decided on upgrading my SCSI connected Microtek Artixscan 4000t for one of the Nikon Coolscan scanners, and they're hard to find.
My desktop's XP Pro is telling me there might have been an installation problem so my scanner won't work. That little pop-up is right. There's nothing wrong with the scanner itself, something with the registry or .ini file...whatever it is, I'm not touching it, having been through enough with upgrading the desktop from dual booting to just XP Pro. Anyone interested in an Artixscan 4000t for a good price, let me know.

I've been reading about the different scanners out there, I'm a Canon girl at heart-since the '70s, so I've never thought about the Nikon scanners. I'm looking at the Coolscan V but preferrably the 5000 new, so there goes that rebate...

So after calling a round, I called a store out west, Power Max, the CS rep tells me she thinks Nikon is fixing to come out with upgraded film scanners. "They're keeping quiet about it-that's what they do" she said, well I guess so-makes perfect sense, PMA in February.

I also called Nikon, they say the Coolscan V doesn't batch scan, but I read where a few users are batch scanning. What gives? Any Nikon Coolscan V or 5000 users care to comment, especially about batch scanning and the Coolscan V, be my guest. I'll post what happens in my hunt.
